At this point I would almost actually even rather see AC2 reopened than a retro AC1 server. I mean, we paid for the game, right? We can't play it anymore? A lot (some [a few]) of us never even played it the entire way through while it was still up.

AC2 was awful. They were making a lot of progress at the end there, and yes, it was pretty... but it was terrible.

This was my memory of it. But still! There were times when I thought AC was awful and quit.... only to come back every time.

AC2 was a cataclysmic failure... I've grown tired of AC and left, only to come back a few months or a year later. I can never stay away from AC for too long, but AC2.... *shivers*. I've played all the other MMO's. Seriously... all of them... AC is the best MMO in existance. All the other games, I grind for 2 months only to have my fireball spell go from 4-10 damage all the way up to a whopping 8-14 or some such. I like AC because there's so many variables that go into combat. Truely dynamic characters, that leave it up to the INDIVIDUAL to decide on how to draw up his/her character. I'm so sick of the type-casting in of the cookie cutter MMOs. If you are a warrior, that's what you are. If you are a mage, thats what you are. I love that AC allows me to do whatever I want with my characters... no matter how foolish. As a consequence, PVP truely prospers in AC. It ain't pretty, but it's got character.

Yep, I feel like AC represented what MMO's could have become, but after WoW every developer got wrapped up in Blizzard's idea of what an MMO is, their questing system, et al.
Looking back on it, releasing AC2 so soon what the biggest mistake Turbine made in their entire history, and effectively killed AC then and there. AC wasn't even out for four years!
