I am going to wait until the February patch goes live before I pass any judgment on the effect it has on Asheron's Call.

Everything sounds really interesting. What I will comment on is how impressed I am that the developers have been so transparent with their player-base about changes and implementation. I can't think of another game that would actively solicit input from their player base about new ideas and engage in a dialogue with them about it.

It is reassuring to know that Asheron's Call is still a dynamic game and that the developers are still looking at ways to make improvements after 12 years.

What I hate to see is players making a big fuss and "quitting" before changes have even been introduced. Approach things like this with an open mind and give it a fair chance before you dismiss it as the apocalypse for Asheron's Call.

Dual wield sounds amazing.
recklessness sounds fun.
Backstab could be fun in groups where it would be viable to some extent.

but honestly i feel as tho for backstab to be truely viable... need a way to better keep aggro on a central person.

other than that im probably gonna come back after patch day. just for these changes on some of my older melle chars that i never played. as apposed to my archer/mage that i always played.

I hadn't played since 2003 and I came back because of all the changes. The grind is still there if you want it like the old days, but if you want to quest and get more xp that's there too.

It's all good, games change.

btw last time I checked DDO was making a lot of money for Turbine.
