outside of being useful in flashpoints, it has no purpose now.
and the end product from crafting is you will turn a profit unless your a complete bozo, and buy overpriced mats.
you make your self free gear and when you get closer to max levels you get to make epic gear for use or sell.
what does end game slicing get you? nothing its the same thing it has at level 1 just a bigger percentage.

also scavenging is nothing but a pure money maker if you dont have a crafting skill
for example:
Vendor price for item: 400 creds
Rich mission cost: 9xx creds (assume 1k)
Yeld: 32 items.
Yeld in credits: 32*400=12 800 credits
Profit: 11,8k
That's for tier 5

Yeah, I need to start doing that too... right now I'm just doing lockboxes... making about 200-300 credit profit per box instead of 400-500 now. I think one of the things they fixed was the poor scaling of slicing and profit... before I just ran a low level crew mission over and over for big profit, now the higher missions actually have the higher payout.
