I like how the experiment doesn't show black people walking by and their reactions to a white or black person cutting the chain. My guess is it would pan out the same way.

They DID show black people commenting on the white boy who was cutting the chain. I guess you guys missed the part where they said they didn't think much of it because they don't think that white boys carry around burglar tools.
Could they have shown more black people walking around? Yes, but that's not what I was commenting on.

you could write a thesis on how it is flawed. if you studied the video you could count numerous ways the two kids behaved differently. the black kid basically acts guiltier.
why aren't 100% of the people stopping 100% of the potential robbers in the first place?
ambiguous?
have to make a fast decision that either gets you more involved or sends you on your way?
taking a risk on being wrong?
it's a difficult situation for a random person to judge. that difficulty could contribute to why people end up relying on an implied association or stereotype or whatever to make their fast decision.
but just because a stereotype influences a split decision you make while walking through the park doesn't mean it dominates your decision-making in general.
