I know i know we don't live in straw huts on dirt trails...But I have zero credit card debts - don't go on vacations, don't blow a lot of money on things and cut my phone bills, and everything else I can cut and I still have no money left for healthcare. I am not complaining, it is just a fact of my life in America, today. I know I have a few cavities so I have to go to the dentist, I just don't want to start building up credit card debt again.

Don't you know? Obamacare will provide medical coverage for you - like welfare. Or they'll just take it as a tax penalty and use that to pay for it for you.

Just how easy would it be to become a criminal in America? imagine:

1) You loose your job. You have no saving, no family support. Your income was too large to get welfare benefits. No housing subsidy, no food stamps. You can't pay your rent, you can't find a job. Your landlord evicts you...I hear it takes about a year to get kicked out by the county sheriff. So from living a patriotic and decent American Life you are thrown to the wolves to pull yourself up. You become an outcast a fringe citizen - where is the safety net?

2) You can't pay your taxes because you lost your job. You become a criminal on the eyes of the law. Through no fault of your own. You were a decent hardworking loyal American. Now because you owe taxes you are a criminal, UN-American an outcast.

One paycheck away from the ''normal'' way of life. I can understand why people get fanatical about religion. Faith seems like the only thing left, but I am faithless. But I would pray to avoid the above. Nobody ever said life is easy.

Ronald Regan was correct we need to go back to a simpler time, but it is a fairytale.

This. If Obamacare doesn't get repealed, you'll have health care in a few years. Alternatively, you could move to almost any other developed nation.

Just like the ski lodge with young women looking for husbands and husbands looking for young girls, the situation is not as symmetric as it first appears.

Well you've got a few things wrong here, but generally speaking, you're correct. A great many Americans are a paycheck or two away from bankruptcy and no alternative but to go on the State for subsistence. I don't know if it's sad, foolish, or brave that these people are also typically those too proud to accept welfare.

The plight of the working poor is what you're talking about. The working poor are in a worse boat than the full on welfare recipients.

when poor people come to me complaining about pain I punch them in the teeth... instantly whatever was hurting them before stops hurting. This also functions as a lowcost way of extracting teeth.

see, thats just how poor people are wired.

of course the right answer to the original question is "Pfft... poor people, who cares".

The Oatmeal Butterscotch paired with a Snickerdoodle
turned my cynical penis into a happy vagina
Then after an Oatmeal Cranberry and Double Chocolate,
it made my new vagina spontaneously sing the Trolololo Song in an elevator.

Check at your local county hospital district and see what programs they have and if you qualify for any assistance.

It worked for me last year and I got my insides fixed, otherwise it would have been $40k+ out of pocket.

you can get insurance that has 1000 or 2000 (or more) deductibles much cheaper than regular plans with no deductibles. Even if you had a 5k deductible, that's manageable and I'm sure you could work out a payment plan or take a loan to pay should you have something big go wrong.

If you are an individual or a small business owner, it isn't so easy to get insurance. If you do find insurance, insurance companies would like to drop you due to "pre-existing conditions" if you file a claim. They can't do this anymore because of Obamacare, but they would like to.

If something big does go wrong, there is a good chance you will have to file for bankrupcy, even with insurance. Medical bills are the most common cause of bankrupcy, and most of the people who declare bankrupcy because of medical bills had insurance.
