NHL Players association refuses realignment plan

wasn't the complaint before with travel being just a timezone thing? NOT actual travel?
that was why people defended the northern teams and florida teams being in the same conference.
and the disparity of playoff chance is a bit of a joke...ONE team fewer really wont make a difference for the short conferences.
really what it is all about is the NHL came up with this and didn't ask the NHLPA for input so they are being pissy bitches.
a few teams are already saying rejecting was BS.

They are concerned about the playoffs? Come on, over half the teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs. A playoff system like that is already a complete joke.

current format, 8 teams from each conference make it.
there are 15 teams per conference.
last i checked 8 is bigger than 7.
still in the proposed format, two of the four conferences it still holds true...and overall more teams make the playoffs than dont.
and my above WAS serious...
7 teams fighting for 4 spots is not that much easier than 8 fighting for 4 spots.

You don't know much about hockey do you? I don't even like the sport and I know that when you have two 15 team conferences and 8 teams from each conference make the playoffs, more than half the teams in each conference make the playoffs.

I propose that the NHL just drops 2 of the teams that aren't making money and have 28 teams.
Phoenix and Columbus seem like 2 good choices.
