Ron Paul is, sadly, the GOP's true best candidate so far.
Yep. They're idiots for not running him if they wanted nothing but to kick Obama out of the whitehouse. Fact is, Paul is far too conservative for their interests.
Except Paul polls very poorly in actual electability. While some of his ideas are neat and his crazy is entertaining the people that actually vote dont like him much.
doesn't matter if he has the popular support, he has to be able to win the electoral college.
which he wont because he doesn't have enough support in the states that matter in the electoral college.

I strongly believe that the republican nomination grants you the votes of virtually everyone that was going to vote republican to begin with. Paul would have gotten them a lot of the undecided, independent and fence sitting votes. He probably still wouldn't have won, but he would have done better than Romney who will get all the republican votes and little to nothing else.

To get a 3rd party president, you have to elect 3rd party congress critters first. You don't start a new party at the top, you start it at the bottom and work up. Anyway, laws are made in Congress, not by whatever idiot is currently sitting in the oval office.

There are a good portion of his own party that wouldnt even vote for him, including some of the ones running for the nomination. He also polls very poorly in electability with indepandents, not sure why you feel this way when nothing points to it aside from the really loud spam bot minority on the internet.

The GOP's continued spurning of Ron Paul really shows that they have no interest in returning to old school conservative values. They are choosing to embrace this new era of fringe Christians and gimmicks over the sensible ideas that made them big. This could be a long bleed for the party.

In short, the GOP is embracing the new stupid and eschewing the old stupid.
I agree

Newt wasn't running for President, he was running for a high paying gig on FoxNews and to sell more of his books full of stupidity.
Paul wasn't running for President, he was running to spread his religion (AKA lets go back in time to when only rich white men had any power and everything was perfect for everyone)
Perry was running for President, but he is a fricken idiot.
Bachmann was running for President, because her insane husband told her to do so and they thought god was on their side.
Huntsman is running for the nomination in 2016.
Romney is running to be the guy that loses to Obama. He gets his wish.
Well said, sir, well said.
And I can totally see Paul running as an independent if Romney gets the nod. Ron Paul has nothing to lose at this point by going independent and screwing over the GOP (not that they stand a chance with Romney vs. Obama).
In my opinion, the Republicans have only themselves to blame for Obama's second term. It was handed to them on a silver platter and they managed to bungle every last opportunity by doing nothing except opposing Obama. Yeah, we get it, you hates the Obama. Move on and DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE you fools.

Oh, and I can totally see Huntsman as president in 2016. It's not like the Democrats will have anyone worthy by then.
