Hard to piss people off when you don't have the scratch to do it with anymore...
I think lots of Americans are generally sick of fking around in the world anyway. If we could achieve energy independence I'd totally like to slip back into military isolationism (global commerce should continue).

yes, unless you're french, then you surrender. But for most other countries, killing the enemy during a war is just fine.
