Because it's not even supposed to be the same. And for old dogs like me calling it a Dart is automatically a negative mark.

No, it at least had the V-8(318). But that engine was rated at probably 150 HP and it was a heavy car. An old woman with a walker could beat that thing off of the line.

I didn't think Dodge could pull off an uglier car than the Dart.

The 71-73 Dart/Swinger definately qualifies as one of the ugliest cars ever made. I have my Grandma's 67 Dart in storage. Its not a bad looking little car.

I've had a variety of 318's and 225 slant 6's. The slant 6 is indestructable for many design characteristics including a forged steel crankshaft up until 1957. I really like the slant 6 a lot and it can be highly modified. However, if you're going to mod an engine there are much more powerful engines out there. My last 318 was in my 94 Dakota. It had the Magnum heads and did much better than my 67 318. It just sucked oil into the intake manifold until I replaced it with an M1. Bad design bolting a steel pan onto the bottom on an intake.
I'll take my 5.7 HEMI over any of them though.

LOL, you must not like humongous quarter panels! My brother had a 73 Plymouth Duster with a 340 and 4 speed. I liked that car. Bought it the same day he bought a new Vette in 1985. I guess he knew his wife would drive the Vette and he wanted to keep up with her.
