guns are meant for shooting not to be blown up

The article also mentioned detecting suicide bomber vests. I don't think those are for shooting.

the discussion here was about guns but I will humor you and change topics. The 4th and 14th amendments are quite clear about arbitrarily scanning for anything on a person

from the Kyllo vs US decision

"The Fourth Amendment provides that "[t]he right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated."...
Where, as here, the Government uses a device that is not in general public use, to explore details of the home that would previously have been unknowable without physical intrusion, the surveillance is a "search" and is presumptively unreasonable without a warrant.....To withdraw protection of this minimum expectation would be to permit police technology to erode the privacy guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment.

while this particular case was about "houses" Scalia in his opinion recited the 4th amendment....which of course includes "persons" and "effects"(cars) to prevent technology used by the police and govt from invading privacy....

this is not about the possibility of catching illegal devices.....these devices scan indiscriminately ....so it may see a gun...or it may see the vibrator in your purse....but the fact remains it WILL see a great many things that are legal to carry....and no matter how you slice it... searching w/o a warrant or probable cause or incident an arrest is illegal....no matter how much you try to rationalize your argle blargle fear mongering about bombs and guns and it's for the children nonsense

All the more reason for citizens to be able to carry a weapon openly.

It would be a better deterrent to crime that way, as well.
