It was surprisingly easy, once i got used to actually doing increases properly it was really easy. I made it too big, though, so i had to change the style a bit by making the brim smaller than the rest of the hat but it works lol

definitely you!
Now make one with ear flaps, and use good yarn (not red heart).
http://www.knitpicks.com if you lack yarn stores there. (I love their stuff, the baby alpaca is so soft), and you might like their chroma line.

Very cute! I'm much more a solid-color kinda gal myself, but that's just me. Looks good for a first hat!
