PIPA is dead as well.
That doesn't mean the bastards in congress wont get another bill written by hollywood lobbyists that tries to do exactly the same thing...but is worded differently and titled something like "Ensuring the freedom of the internet forever act".
I was listening to Tucker Carlson on a morning show today, and I realize morning radio is not the place to get information but he actually brought up some good points. The host suggested that Congress will just hide SOPA/PIPA in a "Patriotic" piece of legislation that will get by the average voter. But Tucker Carlson said that is unlikely to happen because Google, Wiki, etc. are too astute when it comes to legislation that will harm their interests. So if that is true I think that the public will be alerted if they try and sneak in a SOPA v2.0 under a different, more appealing name.

The ideas behind the two bills are far from dead, but for now we can breath a sigh of relief. And regulator is just being a partisan idiot again, if you look up the supporters and opponents of the bills between the two houses, for the Democrats there are 39 supporters and 61 opponents, for the Republicans there are 22 supporters and 75 opponents.

Awesome!
But talk about some seriopus BS in that statement. Talking about piracy stealing money and jobs from Americans... WTF about all these companies outsourcing then? Outsourcing has destroyed more jobs than piracy ever could.

Until a couple of days ago, nearly every single Republican was on record as being for it, and about half of the democrats.
Republicans jumped ship fast after the 18th however, and some Democrats still haven't figured out yet just how unpopular this crap really is. Republicans have always been better at picking up on trends than Democrats....this bill is no exception to that.
But anyway, no this really isn't a totally partisan thing. Even though the main sponsors of the bills were almost all republicans, they had plenty of help from many democrats on it.

They're sure to revisit the approach of putting another spin on it so people don't know what's going on, at least.

Actually, I don't need it. According to this site you are not only completely wrong about "nearly every single Republican was on record as being for it" but there is nearly an even split in the supporters and opponents from each party with there being slightly more Democrats who supported the legislation along with slightly more who opposed it (including my man Mark Warner who was one of 4 senators to originally oppose it). This data is from Wednesday, which I feel is fair because no one knew how the public would react to the media blackout.
