I would have to ask what you plan to do with the TV?

If cost is not an issue,

I would get a high HZ LED.

if cost is an issue, you will never go wrong with a Plasma (IMO).

Most Plasma and LCD sets are very similar in price. LCD refresh rates are still not as good as Plasmas however. Overall picture quality will be better with a Plasma. Lifespan issues aren't as much of an issue any longer with Plasmas either; they last damn near as long as an LCD. Also, burn-in is not as big of an issue any longer with Plasma (it can still happen but it is harder to accomplish).

LED's can have deeper blacks and such than Plasmas but can also suffer from the same refresh rate blues as an LCD. Honestly even if cost wasn't an issue and you don't mind a bit heavier television, I would say to buy a Plasma anyways.

DLP is just a newer fancier rear projection. Mitsubishi puts out a good product. You have to worry about bulbs going out. Lifespan on bulbs vary and the bulbs CAN be expensive.

Size to cost ratio, I would say DLP has the edge with more bang for your buck, but requires more space also.

Overall if weight isn't an issue I would say plasma.. The televsion that Fallen linked is the same set I have, less 3d. I have the LG 60pz550 which looks identical to the linked, but has 3d support and is a "smart" tv.

Note - if you have a Video Only by you, I highly recommend you check there before you buy. I've bought my last 2 sets from them as well as my surround sound. They are very flexible on their prices and very competitive. My LG set was priced 1200 w/no tax and shipping on Amazon, Video Only had it for 1299 + tax w/2 pairs of 3d glasses. The sales person matched the Amazon price (1200 out the door) and still gave me the 3d glasses.

Shop around and see what you want, then head to Video Only and see if they have it, or something similar that you will like.

Hope this helps

Edit - I have a 50" plasma from Panasonic I bought in November of 2008 and it works like the day I bought it. Moderate - heavy usage over the years too.

We bought a Samsung 3D LED TV...for 3600...on sale for 1600 and it came with 4 pairs of glasses and a 3d blueray player which is huge because it's our first blueray player...we actually bought the TV for the blueray player...Well the blueray player was the selling point to me. Works great...we love it!! The tv and the player!!
Their is a new one comming out in the next years OLED which has better blacks. If your afraid your blacks were too not athentic...just saying...whatever you buy, their will always be something better the next year....we have a lcd tv which is nice and a DLP but it takes up a lot of room...if you wanna buy our 55 inch dlp from us...feel free!! only asking 400.00

Meh, Honestly would disagree. Until they can match the refresh rates of Plasmas, they are overpriced for what they are. They are great if you need a LIGHT television and can't have it take up too much room.. but the technology is still expensive.

Wait until the glassless 3d tech stuff comes out in full force.. gonna be shaawweeeeeeeettt!

Lighting is another (imo THE) consideration. A room with windows or lamps will butcher a plasma. I have a plasma in our basement (dark room, "optimal conditions" for viewing) and I'd rather watch the smaller LCD in our living room. Sports and video games look much nicer on it.
