The time thing is what would kill me, it literally would be a 8 hour a day job for 2 years or longer if the first dog just cant do it. I would love to have that job though if I could actually make a living at it, although I dont know how I would do with the frustration of dogs not making the cut after all that time. Mr Pants also could never be a service dog, cant train the water dog out of him.

I might be wrong but I don't think she is looking for a seeing eye type service dog but more of a helper dog. There is a world of difference between training a dog to ignore all outside stimulus and concentrate on a preset series of actions and training one to pick up a dropped object and give it to the person that gave the command. I've seen lots of elderly with dogs trained as helpers, these dogs would not have made it as seeing eye dogs but were more than adequate as helper dogs.

Even to get a dog certified as a service dog it is extremely difficult. Years of training. Becoming a therapy dog (not even close to as difficult as a service dog) takes a good couple years and tons of training.

Somebody was a very sensitive b this weekend, and I am not sure if it was just Reap.
Sheesh, take a pill. Asking if someone has any experience training dogs is little reason to rage whine.

If you think my opinion is idiotic, re-read yours.
Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.
The PvP MMO is NOT a "niche" market, Mythic is just a "niche" company.

Do tons of research on this one first, the ones I've known have been particularly hyperactive, and there is the fun taking them to the groomer or doing it yourself every 6 weeks thing...
My dog-in-law is 100% idiotic hyper stupid goldendoodle, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Oh, but "he's great when there's nobody around" so as long as he's in the house, he's super! They've taken him to countless trainers and classes and kept up with it at home, too...

there is no real certification for service dogs. It's not required by law, there are however, a lot of fake scammer people that will take your money and give you a little vest to put on your dog and call them "certified".
The only "certification" that is real is when you put your dog through a training school for service dogs. There are no real certification locations for self trained dogs. The ADA only requires that the person being assisted is disabled, and the animal assists that disabled person by doing tasks, generally 3 tasks, like picking up dropped items, retrieving items, opening doors, helping with balance, guiding etc. People like having the little vests so they aren't questioned when bringing an animal into a store, but they are not required by law.

oh let's quibble at semantics instead of the actual issue.
Training dogs to do specific tasks for service capabilities is a difficult and challenging job. If it were so easy to train your own animal then companies couldn't get away with charging 20k+ for the dog + services.
Because the majority of us do not know, or care to remember the specifics of your daugher's disability some may doubt the training ability of your daughter.
However if your goal is to just train three specific tasks, she (you) might have more chance of success. The challenge then becomes how to unlearn the unwanted dog traits.
