The interface did leave a lot to be desired...
Content wise, it was pretty damn awesome, though. It was a wide open world that could accommodate you regardless of the pace you wanted to go. Unlike EQ (that came out a bit before AC and about a year after UO), you did feel weaker with each passing level, which was also great. Still, I chose EQ over AC (most of the time) back in the day because I started with it and I hated the AC interface.
