This just occurred to me. I might be tired/drunk, but it seems like a legit philosoraptor question.
Why do women tend to have the best voices....
k screw the image.
But men sing the better songs?

I think it all depends on what you like. Elton John has an amazing voice, rivaling almost any female vocalist, I think that women's voices are directly related to beauty more than mens are, however.
Women sing about love and loss a lot, I don't think many female vocalists can get away with some of the lyrics that male vocalists can.
I can't imagine a female singing Death Orgy 9000, can you?

It has to do with vocal range. Back in the day if you wanted to raise a boy to be a good singer you'd snip off his nutsack so his voice wouldn't become deep. Singing eunuchs.
