And personally I would go with an amd setup. Sandybridge has gotten really mixed reviews and amd is cheaper with better quality imo.

So you're dumping $1600 and only getting a 150 gb 10k rpm hd?? And 4gb ram?? O-o

Your priorities are screwed up...

Purpose behind computer then?

He makes sense. Most of these people know more than I do, but I would back off the $500 gpu for more ram and you can always upgrade later when the price of that card drops.

Personally, I would hold off on the SSD until they get larger, cheaper, and more reliable, but I will be alone on that.

Not alone.

i do have a couple of them and they are shocking fast.

but i have already experienced a couple failures of them.

yes it is a pita..but..they are so much faster than a platter drive..

at least all the ones i ever had.

but.. in hindsight, i could do without and save the money.

eff that.

Omg $600 for a video card, so ludicrous it'll make you slap yo momma!

If you're spending that much on a video card, why not buy some more expensive RAM?

And I wouldn't buy a 60gb SSD for $50, that sounds suspiciously cheap.

That size SSD should be around $100....

Recommend me some good expensive ram then please? I'd like to go all out with this computer just because I can.

Oh, I suppose you'll need to upgrade to Windows 7. Then buy 16 GB of the most bad assest RAM in the world.

Oh well, forgot to mention I'm putting another 2gb from my other computer so it will be total of 6. If I remember right Windows 7 32 bit which I use can't use more than 6gb so anything more is a waste.

The limit on 32-bit OS is 4GB memory. Plan accordingly.

And +1 for the SSD idea.

It's performance is better than the 10k drives, and you get a lot less heat/noise.

Damn only 4gb, ok. Would it be worth the extra couple hundred to buy windows 64 bit and a lot more ram or not really?

I know nothing about the ssd so I'm iffy on those right now.

If a HDD is a CD player then a SSD is like an MP3 player.
