Seriously this is the worst idea ever.
And somehow I accidentally buy them ALL THE TIME!
Bounty probably thinks people love them, but I honestly believe they sell good on accident.
I hate these things. If I wanted something smaller than a paper towel I would buy napkins.

It's a gimmick and people will buy it because of the advertising. If there was no advertising and you had to learn by buying various products you'd get even more frustrated (I know I would).
I DO like the "select a size" towels even if it is a gimmick. I hate wasting an 11x11 sheet when I can use half of it for a spill. But then again if the spill is small enough that a 5.5 inch by 11 inch piece of paper can clean it up why can't a kitchen towel that I wash.
Honestly if we all think about it. If you spend 30 dollars a year on household rewashable towels that is CHEAP!! Bounty select a size 12pack is 17 dollars and if you use 1 roll a week thats 72 dollars a year. For that cost you could amass a nice amount of towels and still cover the cost of cleaning them.

i use them. i used to tear a paper towel in half when i didnt need a whole one.

They are useful if you're not going to use a sponge or towel or other renewable/cleanable device. Basically they give some people the option to use less paper some of the time. Even if they don't do so as often as they should, or if they still use paper when they should use a towel or sponge, they're still using LESS paper.
Personally I try to use a towel or a sponge as often as possible. We probably use a roll of paper towels every 2 to 3 weeks, and that's with me using them for the occasional tissue when I'm about to sneeze and there are no tissues handy.
