Mead is hit or miss for me. So much so I haven't bothered making any yet though I still want to try. Cider on the other hand... that's yummie.

Only renfaire people drink that crap. There is a reason that they don't sell that crap in stores.

They do sell it in stores.

Oliver has about 6 or 7 different flavors of mead.

Wineries are not stores. I am qualified by the Circuit Court to testify as an expert on what is and is not a store.

Oh and to answer OP...I have never tried it, because I've never seen it for sale. I keep meaning to find some and try it, but psh...effort seems to be required.

This winery sells wine in every major store in the midwest.

Oh you are being technical about it. What those things are in the midwest ... they do not qualify as stores elsewhere. We call those things flea markets here in the east.

Why not try a cyser (apple mead)?

16 lbs honey (clover works best, but I've had good results with wildflower too)
4 gallons fresh local cider
4 cinnamon sticks
yeast energizer and yeast nutrient
Narbonne or Cote des Blancs are my favorite yeasts to use with this.
Use 4 campden tablets to kill natural yeast in cider 24 hours before adding honey and pitching yeast.

Drinkable in 6 months, though likely bitter. Bitterness wears off with time. Aging for a bit with wood chips is suggested, but not necessary. Tastes the best after 2 years.
