You know, it's funny. A typical teenager can get his first pickup in the south and decide it would be cool to put a rebel flag in the back glass. And he might have black friends and get along with them just like his white friends. But to an outsider like you he's suddenly racist. And to show you how utterly ignorant you are of the south take a look at the Fort Smith Southside High School. For ever the mascot has been Johnny Reb, the team called the Rebels, and the Rebel Flag flown in honor. I guess that's just a completely racist high school huh? And kids grow up seeing all this and never think of it as racist. You people that didn't grow up in the south sure know how to tell people how to live instead of just STFU and trying to watch and figure things out for yourself. All you need is some other idiot to tell you how to think because you can't do it for yourself.

I grew up south of the Mason DIxon line in a city that was 90% or so black.
I spent years going through the south, I remember seeing a town sign, above it a rebel flag and below it another sign which said:
"Don't let the sun set on your ass in this town
racial slur" (sorry war stories have to be grahic sometimes)
That was in 1977.
I currently have a black g/f by the way too, not that, that matters any in this conversation.
My junior high was very racist (against whites) I got robbed and beat up all the time by gangs of older black kids, it being 90% black and me being a white 7th grader just after all the riot years.
I spent 4 years inspecting HUD housing in the South, I go to Atlanta and South Carolina even now 4 times a year for a business thing I do.
So please tell me more of my ignorance of the South along with my ignorance of the Marine Corps, my Dad btw died in a VA home on Veterans day, insisting to the day he died that he ate all his meals on his Marine Corps tin plate.
I won't be deliberately stupid for anybody.
The confederate battle flag may not be racist to everybody but it sure as hell is to the majority of black people, and that is good enough for me to consider it racist.
