Everything according to some people here, like the OP.
I am not justifying this expense but for the "stop sending aid" and "close our embassy" crowds, you HAVE to understand that it is easier to bribe these regimes than allow them to topple. You think we have problems now? Wait until a nuclear nation like Pakistan has a coup. Wait until any of those Arab Spring countries goes leaderless and has unaccounted weapons. It will be chaos like we have never seen. That is the stuff you see in video games.

Funny you should mention that -- that was over a 2% payroll tax cut, or as a percentage 100x as large as what Aerlinthian is whining about. The correct figure is $0.40.

So by this logic budgets are irrelevant (which would explain a few things..) and finite resources don't exist (hint; they do..).

Mithan was a deflection, but a FUN one. What your logic fails to grasp is that we get something for that money. Mithan's quip was just one possible thing we get for it.
