I did not like them. The spongy feeling was not ideal imo.

I instead got one with a large pillow top, but was still about as pricy as the range you are talking, but love that damn bed!

Go to a mattress store and lay on them and try them out. At one I went to the lady even said they would allow you to take a short 30ish minute nap to make your decision since a $4500 bed is a very large investment.

*Whatever you get, make sure to compliment it with some nice 1200-1500 thread count sheets. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY. Check prices for them on ebay, overstock, and amazon. You can get them there for very cheap.

Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.

I'm the opposite. I can't see sleeping on a normal mattress since getting mine. It is losing shape though so I am thinking of replacing it. Considering how long I have had it and how well I have slept on it I consider it worth it.

i wouldn't give up my tempurpedic for anything, my back is much better thanks to it and i sleep much better. the heat can be an issue if you live someplace warm (i'm in florida) but i found that simply doubling up the bottom sheet is enough to solve that problem. i wouldn't trust any other memory foam, i've seen way too many other brands of so called memory foam that hold up for maybe a year or two (or less) and then lose all their resistance and support. my bed on the other hand is still working just great and its been about 7 years i'd guess.

Yes. Bought one in June or July of 2010 - a knockoff from Overstock.com.

Here's a lengthy review I wrote about the one we got, which we're still using and enjoying immensely.

I like how you dedicated several paragraphs just to sex on the mattress. Which one did you buy, do you remember the name?

I'll have to check on that, will repost tonight when I find that out.

See, here's the thing about the whole "durability" issue between knockoffs and Tempurpedic.

The bed we bought was $500. A comparable Tempurpedic was damn near $5k. Even if my current bed lasts only 3 or 4 years, I highly doubt that a Tempurpedic is going to last 30 or 40 years. More likely is that if there is any durability differences, they are on the order of 10 or 20%, not 1000% like the price is.

They have a new type that is cheaper and isn't supposed to trap the heat.. I think they're latex foam or something...

tempurpedic is guaranteed for 20 years i think. i think i paid 1800 for mine and its a nice queen size. if your paying 3 or 4k for one your either shopping at the wrong stores or going for ridiculously overdone models...sort of like buying a Lamborghini rather than something more reasonable.

What an unbelievable waste of time.

Do you regret writing that now?
