Something has to be said about its longevity.
It obviously still has enough subscribers to be making at least a small profit, or else WB would just shut it down. Yet, patches are still coming out on a mostly monthly basis, and quite a bit of dev time is being put in. New races, new skill systems, etc.

I wonder how old the hardware that's running the servers is now... lol...
I'm guessing probably Windows 3.11, 400mhz, 16 mb ram, and etc...

Well, they moved the servers from the West Coast to the East Coast a couple of years ago, and have "upgraded" them since.
But they seem to have only gotten worse lol.

They may hove upgraded but also put it on less number of physical machines.

did they ever fix the crazy lag spikes DT kept having that the other servers didn't get? that was one of the main reasons i got tired of trying to play on that server. i don't think anyone ever said what was causing that but i remember there being a bunch of speculations about the cause...people being more spread out than on the normal servers or the amount of pvp going on caused it or that people with speed hacks were causing it. i just remember the lag sucked bad.

I'm not sure. It was a huge part of why I quit a couple of years ago though.

Yes, they did fix that. It's still a laggy game, but every server is. Only sometimes in really populated areas like 150, does lag make me want to crush wabbits with bricks.
