Perch are pretty good, but they for sure are not judged to be better by the general populace that have eaten both. And, are you talking white or yellow perch? I think yellow are much better than white and do come close to crappie.

yellow are the only perch I've caught. Usually while fishing for small mouth black bass.

jesus, where were you that you didn't go WAYYY over the limit?
the daily limit here is 15, and 30 in a few places (per person)...that's in TN. Everywhere I fish for crappie we can't risk going over because they have twra guys checking pretty regularly.
and crappie is terrible eating? wtf are you smoking? they're one of the best freshwater fish by a long shot. And they are also one of the easiest to clean too.

Crappie are good stuff. If you know what you are doing you can get boneless filets off of them quite easily. You get a massive haul during the day, then you have a giant fish fry at night. It's awesome.
