I need 32" across the top including two - 2x2s, one on both ends.
So how long do I cut another piece of 2x2 to put in the middle? They are not 100% 1.5".

Nvm... I see what you're asking now.
You have to check the width of the 2x2s and subtract that from 32"... it's probably 29, but mihght be more like 28 3/4" because the 2x2 may be in actuality something like 1 5/8 by 1 5/8

Yeah, I thought the same but went and measured two side by side and it is like 1/8" ish short of being 3 inches. I may have to go metric on this B!

Cut the middle one long by 1/8" or so, and file/rasp/sand it to fit.
Those perfect fitting cuts you see on New Yankee Workshop only work out with a spiffy table saw and mitre box and a jointer/planer and all that stuff. I presume you're not using that kind of equipment...
