thats because you dont have to...its already accepted as the "way to be" in general society.
Turn on any television or pick up any magazine and you see straight sex glorified all over the place. Its so ingrained into people that no one questions it when they see a straight couple making out or holding hands.
Thats like saying to a black person back in the 60's. "you dont see white people complaining about sitting in the back of the bus do you?"
Its about changing people's mindsets along with the laws.

While i think it's wonderful that this could even happen (DADT was such a freaking joke, good riddance...), i do agree with the guy who said about PDA's in uniform. If a straight couple would get a bollocking for doing something, so should a gay couple. Otherwise you're taking it to the other extreme and letting gay couples get away with stuff straight couples cant. Equality should be true equality, IMO.

sounds like it makes you uncomfortable since you want to avoid the subject so much. all the more reason to rub it in your face. if i grew up with all that stigma about the way I was, having to hide my own sexuality due to the fear of what others might think, then i might flaunt it when i finally got over my fears. to be free from the fear of being judged negatively by society is a big deal if you've had that anxiety for a long time. it's a haters gonna hate gay strut.
if someone feels the need to flaunt it, i think it's totally understandable. People flaunt all sorts of ridiculous things and it usually doesn't bother anyone. try having an imagination.

while thats true, I think its one of those unspoken rules that only gets enforced when they have no other way to "make a point." If they cant get you with DADT they'll dig up some other ludicrous law thats "on the books" but never really enforced to cause more trouble for gay people. Thats happened not only in the armed services but in civilian cities too like ones in Texas and other places.(people being arrested under old sodomy laws and buggery laws that haven been enforced since the late 1800 to early 1900's)
I like this article/blog from last year about it. It is this guy's opinion but he sites alot of the Supreme Court rulings dealing with it.
