I was browsing around a local shoe store yesterday and notice they had a brand of running shoes on sale for 50-70% off. Apparently they were no longer interested in selling them so they were trying to unload the whole supply, which was probably about 20 or so boxes in varying sizes and models. I got a pair for myself, then did some checking on Ebay last night. People were bidding on used sets of the shoes for the same price I could get these new, so I went back today and tried to buy the entire supply. They said no and told me to leave. WTF?

I don't think so, the boxes are all right there on the shelf for most of them.

It was probably their sales on Ebay.

They didn't want you to undercut them? A lot of stores will limit people to a certain amount on sale items. The sale items are used to get people in the store and buy more expensive things.

Duh. it's because they want the sale to bring in much more than just one person. They are counting on some to buy other items as well. It's called a draw card.

It's still kind of scummy. I mean, you're selling something and a willing customer wants to buy it, but you get refused because the sale isn't ideal for the seller? That's dishonest, especially without any kind of advertised limit.
