started out as a S&W MP-15 optics ready carbine.
just a plane jane m-4, I added all the furniture and replaced some internal parts with after market parts.
like charging handle, bolt carrier parts, etc....
I also picked up a used second upper with a full length rifle barrel(for like $150) that has bi-pod mount for when I want to use it hunting.

Nice. Is the second upper in a more suitable hunting caliber or 223 also?
I am looking at one of these myself here in the next month or 2. It's a true lefty rifle... sexy!

no both are 5.56x54
you can shoot .223 out of a 5.56 , but not the other way around.

Right. You mean 5.56x45 right?
For some reason I thought the S&W M&Ps were 223 and not 5.56 NATO spec... just found out that I was quite mistaken on that matter!

yeah 5.56x45 is what I meant.
nato 5.56 operates at high pressures than a .223, so the bullet has more zip leaving the barrel.

from what I have read in magazines and on gun forums rock river makes good stuff.
