I like it a lot.
I have no idea whats different between the stock storyline and my story line because I am playing with my original ME1 character.
They only grip I have is I have the 360 version and its installed on my hard drive so why do I still need to get up to switch discs?

Well, this is my favorite IP to be released this generation. The story is easily the best of any game out there on the market right now, perhaps ever. I am loving the game and I like the structural layout for stuff.
Three issues:
-There is a mouse bug if you rebind "aim" from the right mouse button, you can't scan and need to rebind it all the time to scan. For me for example, I rebind right mouse button to "walk forward". Now when I want to scan, I need to rebind aim to right mouse button, save and then reload for the rebind to take effect.
-I hate "unlimited enemy respawns" in games. I absolutely detest it and that is why I no longer play the Call of Duty series. There are a number of spots in ME3 where you keep getting unlimited respawns and you can never tell when or where because you will do another mission that is somewhat the same and then there are no respawns and you are like "wtf??". It is more of a pain when you are playing Hardcore like I am.
-They couldn't include one detail level higher resolution textures for the character armor/clothes for the PC versions? REALLY? I mean come on, its 2012. They released a texture pack for Dragons Age 2, why not the PC?

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.

I have noticed this too, that if you go afk during a mission long enough that you will die.

I've installed it to my 360 HD too, and I really dislike the fact that I still need to swap discs. Super lame to start a mission only to find out I have to get up and put disc one or two in. I'M EFFING COMFORTABLE, WHY MAKE ME GET UP?!?!?!?!

I've beat ME1/2 on Insanity a couple times. If you are a class that isn't reliant on the finite supply of thermal clips (like Sentinels in particular with both Warp and Overload), you can stack your team defensively and just grind the enemy down for too-easy wins. Forcing you to advance aggressively and timely (with infinite respawns) is the principle challenge on the highest settings. I for one like this: it makes you sweat, because there is a galaxy at stake and Commander Shepard doesn't have time to sit holding a static position. I could see this being annoying as a MFer for like Infiltrators and such, which is why the finite number of reloads (not the need to reload when a mag is empty) was the dumbest retcon ever.
As for me, I can't shout Mass Effect's praises loud enough from any soapbox I can find. My only thing is (spoiler warning), we already did the recruit-an-army thing in ME2 and other Bioware games. If they could come up with a few more plot structures and maintain the energetic rush of the first part of the game it would be even better (like 11 out of 10 stars, I'm nitpicking).

I think it's better then #2 and am hopeing it will take me to the 35-40 hour mark. I am 12 hours in currently so far an easy 9/10
It's really streamlined and runs very well during the combat, I can't believe they give the option to skip it lol it's easily the best of the series.
So far I like the new Shepard and I love that the choices are not as clear cut as before. There is much more ambivalance to what would be a paragon/renagade choice. Glad I get to play it and I will be playing the single player a lot which is good I was worried it would suffer and it hasn't.
I will be playing the series from start to finish a few more times with the different classes and story archs, there always seems to be something a bit different which for me is a huge enticment coming from the days of arcade games when everything was static and you could literly burn into your brain the pattern of a game and play blindfolded if you wanted to as long as you twicted the same way all the time.
So next is what?
Ninja Gaiden 3 (i doubt it will hold up to 2)
D3 (playing D2 and the Demo) 3 seems to have the edge for me for now waiting for the full game
Bioshock 3 (looks sick) probably will be my game of the year
I'm not sure what else is in this league as far as new games.
Maybe some of the MMO's maybe, GW2, Secret World, Terra playing SWOTOR it's ok not great. 2008-2011 really had some nice games and new series which was really cool.
Maybe once the WI U/PS4/720 launches we will get back to being blown away. New zelda game looks fricking crazy good. Really temps me to get back into Nintendo games.

Eh....you said it all before I could.
Beginning was a little slow too. Nothing like the ME2 opening that hooked you instantly with then Cerberus rebuild and whatnot.
