First of all, she probably is talking about whiskey, not whisky.....so leave the scotch at the store.
Whiskey is bourbon or other American/Canadian style adult beverages. Totally different in taste and style than whisky, which is always scotch and scotch style adult beverages.
Scotch will taste like a bottle of ashtray water to someone who isn't used to drinking it and is expecting whiskey. SO despite the fact that you got some awesome recommendations here, many of them are probably not what she is looking for.
Yamazaki is AWESOME...but it's whisky, not whiskey. Same with Lagavulin, Glenmmoraigne and the like. Whisky, not whiskey.
Go for bourbon to be safe would be my advice. Never met a woman under 30 who liked scotch. Haven't met many over 30 either for that matter. Lots of women (even younger ones) like bourbon.

/agree with the scotch comments. I like whiskeys but scotches are a tough swallow. I doubt she is into scotch. It's a very acquired taste. The last I had was the Lagavulin. Was a toughie for the first half dozen sips but it got better. It's not a taste I've acquired yet. :/
