We had a student come in the other day that obviously was a paranoid schizophrenic who had gone off her meds. It was a very eye opening experience to say the least. Between being worried that she was going to go manic on us and being fascinated by how her mind was twisting reality I didn't know what to think or do. The Dean ended up escorting her to the Psych Services office but those quacks released her after 10 minutes without even getting her name or calling to say she was headed back our way. She didn't seem violent but was very confrontational and argumentative and insisted people were following her. She was trying to sit in on an Organic Chemistry lab but because it was a "windy day" she couldn't find it and she wouldn't give us her name so we had no idea if she was even registered for the course to begin with. She hung around for a few more hours and then disappeared.
She lives with her parents so it seems that maybe that was just a slip up on her med cycle as she came to lab yesterday and was fine.
I think mental illness is something that most people feel uncomfortable talking about because they don't understand it and to a rational person it is easy to assume that the person is just acting crazy rather than being victim to neurochemical imbalances.
All that being said Sooz, ACF is a really bad place to share. All you can do if you do want to share is expect the worst and hope for the best.
And that's all i do. I know there are people here who think im just butthurt, but i really am passionate about changing attitudes. Even if that means that i have to stand up to people all the time. I know people are going to react badly to what i say, but i live in hope that maybe i can change one person's attitude, which makes it totally worth it for me.

I dont understand your question... why would an illness "cover" the fact that i dont word things very well and sometimes come off in a manner that i dont intend to?

I love people trying to justify their negativity towards Sooz when they frequently follower her around and bring these things up even when she doesn't. That she resists showing anger and disgust towards the people attacking her is a real compliment to her character.

Kind of like the same asshats that follow me around and post jabs about BT on my threads that are completely unrelated to his. Can't say my character is as good about it as s00z's is though. Particularly when certain people decided to drag RL info or my kids into it.
s00z is a nice gal, she knows she has some issues and she deals with them in her own way yet doesn't belittle others in the process. The fact that she shares here is a bit wonky but I understand in a way. ACF used to be more of a family, now it is full of cliques.
