I don't think that anyone ever claimed that 6 million Jews died as a result of gassing (except this article). Just that 6 million died during the Holocaust (which was not limited to gassing).
Even if the gas chambers were a complete hoax (which I don't believe- Carbon monoxide was apparently the gas of choice, not cyanide. Would that leave traces?), does it matter? Does it matter if the only way Jews (and others!) died in concentration camps was starvation, disease, executions and medical experiments?
That "article" is long and what I skimmed over asserted a lot of stuff without backing up any of it. A bunch of Holocaust denier names were tossed about, but no actual records or research or factual basis presented. And it is presented as very sensationalist instead of neutral, which makes me discount it even further.

The book The First Holocaust, Jewish Fund Raising Campaigns with Holocaust Claims During and After World War One by Don Heddeshemimer is documented with reprints of articles from the New York Times and other Jewish press that claimed that there was a holocaust of the Jews during World War One. Rabbi Stephen Wise, founder of the American Jewish Congress and assistant to Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, the leader of the Zionist movement in the US, was instrumental in creating the WW I hoax, and led the efforts to resurrect the hoax during WW II.
