I use sweet pickles in tuna salad/chicken salad.
how exactly are they an abomination? Did you have a bad experience with them as a child and can't get over it or something?
I like dill pickles to eat plain, bread & butter are also good to eat plain, or if I don't have sweet pickles for tuna.

I can eat only dill pickles -- I've tried to eat a sweet pickle, but I just end up spewing it out as they are just that nasty. I like chopping up a crunchy dill and putting the diced pieces into my own tuna salad for a sammich.
I still like making a peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich...mmmm...  ...and it keeps others from stealing yours because they think it's the grossest thing in the world.
