Not to mention every time the hold a referendum Puerto Rico doesn't want to be a state. Life sounds pretty nice there perhaps I will move.

not to take rick sanitarium's side (see what I did there?) but while our country might not have a national language our states do.
What class was a required learning in your high school?
New Jersey at the time required four years of English to graduate.
Even Public AND private colleges/unis with a higher standard accreditation (ABET etc) require English I and II at a minimum afaik.
I wonder if there is any crazy language in the "No Child Left Behind," act (which is ridiculous) which sets a minimum standard also.

why would they want to be a state to begin with?
they are better off as territory.
now on the other note, english is the defacto national language.
when I was in the service, I learned that english was the only language that was allowed in the "spaces" when conducting navy business.
you could speak what ever you wanted outside the fence line but when you came through that front gate it was english only.
and yes it was enforced.
