Tattoos used to be what guys my age have. We got them back in the day when they were rare on anyone besides bikers and sailors (I was both of those btw).
Now days, everyone has tattoos. Soccer moms, your kids kindergarten teacher, your preacher.....and of course a bunch of young people. They are a viable form of self expression for anyone, not limited to counter culture extremists.
Piercings threatened to become the new tattoo for a while, but they are pretty stupid looking in large amounts and now are more of a fashion statement like false eyelashes than a counter culture indicator.
So it's back to what it was before the tattoo rage started. Hair and clothes. Oh, and Apple products. Gotta have an iWhatever or you aren't fighting against the man!
