That Japan tsunami looked pretty damn bad. Really fast, powerful, and can't GTFO and it stays around for a long time.

Tornado. I have nightmares about them. Apocalyptic end of the world type with tornadoes and erupting super volcanoes.
Yet I don't even think about them much, even when I lived in Oklahoma.

Nope.
Yeah you can have the eruption/earthquake way far away and still have a tsunami. Plus, the OP said you didn't have to actually be in an area where you could possibly experience them...
