I finally got some medicine for my sinus infection yesterday.

it's an antibiotic
it kills bacteria, not viruses.

I am sorry i missed this little gem.
I think you missed the point. zpacks dont work for sinus infections. they are given out to insistent patients to make them go away. they think they got something that will cure their cold (which is a viral infxn)what they got was a new packaging/formulation of a very old and safe and fairly worthless antibiotic. If people would accept the 'its viral, it will go away' on a personal level and not just on a population level this sort of marginal medicine wouldnt happen. It's getting so bad that the new midlevels i have to work with think its totally appropriate.

They gave me something other than a z-pac. I don't remember what it's called. But they said let them know if it doesn't work and then they'll get me something stronger. It already feels like it's working though. This doctor hates to over medicate. My mom went to him once after we moved here in 97 and didn't like him because he would not prescribe all the muscle relaxers, pain pills, and anti-inflamitories she liked to take. Well, for good reason I say. I know she was addicted to them since at least the 80s, maybe the 70s.

that's usually what I get for sinus infections...z-pac occasionally, but I typically need something that I can stay on for longer because I have some pretty terrible allergies, and this part of the country doesn't help because there's so much pollen all the time. just finished taking my last pill of it on Sunday too.

lol, yes every single sinus infection in the world is due to viruses... that's why there are no such things as bacteria that will invade a WARM WET PLACE THAT IS THE PERFECT PETRI DISH.
