Not when I was in college. Our honor system allowed you to do about whatever you wanted. The professor just left us in the exam room on our own. I can remember several exams where I just left and took a 15 minute walk to clear my head and think during the middle of a 3 hour test.

I was allowed to go to the doo'doo factory during my FE exam. It was also honor system. It's also an 8 hour exam

He said important exam. Might not have been a college exam. Many testing centers nowadays absolutely will not let you leave the room and then come back once you've started the test.
Sucks, man. Hope you were able to get through enough of it to pass.

I think that's the ringer here. Its a real easy scenario to say "Hey I gotta hit the john, don't worry I won't use my iPhone to look up all the answers"
Anyways, the professor let me slide but he could've easily said "Come in later and you can take the 20 page essay format makeup test written in Olde English"

There was nothing stopping us from going to the library and researching stuff during an exam or asking roommates for help, either. Only the promise we signed at the bottom of the exam that we hadn't cheated.

i hate when that happens. i fear drinking anything for a few hours before a taste just because i'm scared i might have to take a massive piss. i've had bad experiences with taking a long test and holding in my piss so bad it started to really hurt.
these days i'm likely just to whip it out and piss in the corner or something since i cant leave. i'd probably rip a huge fart too.

On a preexam/exam day I try not to eat anything even mildly exotic "just in case". With my luck I would go all day with no issues and 15 minutes into the exam I would feel my guts rumble. Yay for pretzels, wheat thins and water to eat/drink for a day.
