the car has outlasted three marriages. Mechanically, it's worn through three sets of shocks, 18 batteries and eight mufflers. Veitch bought the car in February 1964 for just $3,289.
She credits the longevity to a "near-obsessive" approach to the car's maintenance. "I've never been a destructive person and I've just taken care of everything, except my husbands,"

Mangler had an accident on the way home from the liquor store. He was run off the road and crashed into a woman's clinic. It was one giant Pabst smear.

Why would it have rust problems? While the steel used then is clearly inferior to the steel used now, she lived in a warm climate. No winters on a car make it easier for it to last longer. No road salt is also a help.

Depends on where in FL. The coast will destroy a car if it isn't well maintained. From the sounds of it though she took care of it so not as big an issue.

She's probably a better driver than most people between the ages of 16 and 93.
