In short, it isn't in the notes and his IP didn't correspond to somebody else. For all we know, somebody clicked on a bookmark in his PC wondering what Vault Network was, came here and his cache logged him in.

Here is the reason I don't allow Admin Notes to go out:
It gives you guys something to discuss, which then puts focus where it never should be (moderation) and causes old hatreds to pop up, arguments, pissing matches, etc, etc.

Basically, it disturbs the flow of the boards and results in a bunch of crap, which then escalates into bannings and more hard feelings and this all has to be cleaned up by some poor Moderator who is being ridiculed for it, because everything is now being over analyzed.


That is it. That is the only reason we don't give mod notes out. I don't want Mods put in the position of dealing with this crap. Done.


Managers have always been able to do it if they want and they have. The rule doesn't apply to them.


This is the same reason we don't allow Moderator Discussion on the boards. It stirs shi* up and some of you guys LOVE to stir crap up because you get off on it. Unfortunately, the guys and gals who deal with it are real people.


Is there anything in there damning? No, aside from the odd mod remark, they are pretty much straight cut and pastes of what YOU said when you were warned or banned. If people didn't act like two year olds about it, we never would of made this rule, but that was never the case.


As for giving out the notes, I can do that if I want but its a lot of work though and because of that, I wouldn't be doing it myself (sorry). Beib, Acery or Grim may not mind doing it.

THe other part still applies though, which is the part about it stirring crap up on the boards so it would really depend WHO it was. I don't need you guys copying it to ACF4, bitching about it then bringing the discussion here.

If you were, yes I would of easily fired you for implying you were leaking out Admin Notes. I am against that for the reason I said above in the other threads, plus if you leak Admin Notes, then you would also have no issues leaking private info from our internal boards. IF that is why I fired you, then I still agree with the initial decision.





The same reason I told you back then on those threads:

A perfect example is the Profanity Rule change.

When we dropped the Profanity Banning, I told you guys to shut up about it. This was done because if I had said "we are no longer banning you for profanity, but don't swear please", the posters would quickly just fill the boards up with profanity because the flood gates would be open, which would mean we would have to go back to banning for profanity to get them stop and that would cause a lot of problems.

By telling you to shut up about it and leaving it in the rules, the posters perceived it was against the rules and they tried to clean up their language on their own so they wouldn't get banned. When people screwed up, we edited the word and moved on. The poster would see the edit and count themselves "lucky" and try not to use it in the future.

Over time, people clued into the fact that profanity was not getting them banned, but they didn't abuse that notion. They got away with the odd profanity and we got realtivly "safe for work" boards out of the deal.


It was just manipulation on my part, but it worked and was best for everybody. You always knew I hated the profanity rule. It was the single dumbest thing IGN ever did to us and Teddy allowed me to partly dump it, provided it didn't get abused by the posters. This was the only way to accomplish that and I have no regrets.


The other easings were mostly done the same way but only if I felt it was something to be abused. We announced the Spam Thread changes directly because you were told to only allow them on dedicated Spam Threads for example, so who cares. Other things like "ease up on personal attacks" was sort of hard to imply. I wanted people to be able to scrap a bit like you guys allowed back in the day, I just didn't want them going full Jerk against one another. We could of done better with this one though.


Oh well.

Not since 2008. I posted what I got payed earlier in this thread.

$50 for a while, then $150 for about a year or so then nothing.

I have a real job. This is only my spare time stuff. I work shift work (12 hour days) so I get a LOT of time off each week or I wouldn't be here.





Half a page. You used profanity and called somebody an idiot, plus some other stuff.

I disagree with this entirely. 100% philosophically against this.

My proof? Check the Darktide boards.

We've known that cussing isn't bannable for years now. In fact, they had been more lenient with us because of the sheer pushback we'd given over the years. Do you see us cussing all the time? Go count the threads with cuss words in their titles. One. Two maybe? In ten pages? Now count the actual cuss words among the threads. Not many.

Why? Because people don't just cuss to get a reaction. We did that when we were eight years old, and only because we were told we weren't allowed to cuss. Would you get a shitstorm out of the gates? Yes, of course. You'd have people cussing just to cuss, just to flip the bird to you and the people who didn't allow them to cuss ever.

For a while.

Then it would go away, and turn into what our Darktide boards are today. We're the rowdiest bunch on VN, and we're very tame. Most of us are grown adults now.
