edited bit - using Direct Connect rather than the stored server entry got me in...
i just exit out of Miencraft and try again and it usually works

Yeah the invalid server key is a nice new error just to show us how much better it is now that it is out of beta, lol. Usually it only takes a couple tries to get through. I found hitting a single player game then leaving it seems to help.
