Rock try putting this in a text file called "run.bat" in the same directory as the minecraft client...
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
Then download the jar version of the client, it is in the linux section, and put it in the same directory as your minecraft client.
Run the batch file and it should open the minecraft client plus a console window. Play the game as usual.
Let me know if that does it for you.

There is an alternative executable for windows listed too. Try that one. Also, you might want to try a fresh install of the java run-time... it can't hurt.

I like the new stuff. The tall grass, shrubs and stuff really add to the feel. haven't played with trapdoors yet but am looking forward to it. Oh and that reskin mod rocks. The same old cow, chicken, etc every time gets old fast.

Do you have to make a new world for the grass to show? I'm not seeing it in in my save worlds.
Played around with sticky pistons last night. I love them.

yeah its a bug Notch said in his twitter  it also depends on the Biome

Is that bug going to be fixed or do I have to make a new world then transplant all my stuff if I want grass?
