How long before Gnomeregan will be reopened?

I tried to get in there last night to run it for the achievement and got wtfpwned by some level ?? "Gnomeregan Guards" or some such nonsense. I haven't tried to run that dungeon in over a year (and that was with an Alliance toon). Is this something new, something Cataclysm-related or have they made Gnomeregan a level 80 dungeon?

it is a level 80-85 dungeon in cata if I am not mistaken, and even has a heroic mode..
to answer your question..it will never be the low level dungeon it was..ever.

Hmm? Maybe you should put an all level 80 5-man group together and try to run it, they could drop new Cata items and what not.

That's an awesome item. I once found a mage hat in there (I forget what it's called) that had a little satellite-dish-looking thing on top when I ran it with my Gnome ice mage on Alliance. I wore it all the way up to BC because I never found a better hat, nor a better looking hat.
Does anyone know if they plan to keep Gnomeregan as part of the Classic Dungeonmaster achievement? It seems illogical to leave it in there if it's actually going to be the Gnome starting area post-Cata, but as of right now it's still in there.

Well the gnomer instance is still there, you just need to make it past the 80 elites outside if you're horde. I recommend trying invis pots or go nekked and corpse run.
After Cataclysm Gnomer will become the gnomes starting area. Beta is down atm so I can't check the status of the instance for ya

It was a lowbie instance when I entered it two days ago (in beta). As for horde, the transporter theyc an use to get tohte instance places them past the big uber guards.

It's not closed afaik, I just ran it recently. Used the dungeon finder to get in though.

FYI you can still get the quests from the goblins in Valley of Heroes at the blacksmith and use the teleporter in Booty Bay to get inside without going through the guards outside.
