if you did, how much in patches did you need to download afterwards? my friend has a crappy connection and wants to know if it is significantly less than buying a digital version and downloading it all

My wife picked me up a box cause she used up some of her best buy rewards coupons and got $20 off my game.


Anyway, I was patched up current and I loaded the game and really had minimal updates to load. This was on my laptop wireless and it was Tuesday afternoon. I figured I would be waiting an hour or so but it realy was ready in like 10-15 minutes.


Honestly the load from the disk was super fast, I doubt that it installed much. My feeling was that really all I needed was the Key from the disk. Everything seemed to be already installed from patching.

my friend would be doing a fresh install from scratch....so was wondering how big the patches might be after that. like all the shattering patches and such, if that was included with cataclysm box.


oh well i guess either way it has to be less than half of the size of downloading the entire client.


i am on a mission convincing all my friends to come back and try cataclysm but huge patch dls and paying $55 just to try it are deterring them. chumps.

well he bought the box game and installed it...and its making him download 6.5 gbs of patches still. thats crazy lol

I used the key to upgrade and put the box on the shelf. I was playing 5 minutes later. I really wish I would have digitally bought the game.. i killed a tree for nada.

Installed my wife's computer, she hasn't played in 1.5 years. Took 2-3 hours to do the install from the DVD and still had to download 7.7GB. Just let it run overnight and everything was good.
