what do you think? i am eager to do some new crafting and get some new enchants and what not but the prices are so crazy right now. i don't remember the prices being this bad when wotlk came out, but maybe its the inflation

Hopefully soon. I think I banked enough gold just buy selling my mining stuff and cloth. Until that happens Im gonna keep selling tho.

i'm also trying to resist buying greens for 100g a piece. feels like im getting ripped off on one hand but they are such huge upgrades for me in some slots.

Then think of them as blues. Look at the stats instead of the color. Most of my epic purples have already been replaced by Cata greens.

It's about time vs value. I started leveling my first alt tonight and spent about 250g on greens befpre I even started that I know will be replaced within a level, but I found myself moving through areas much easier the second time around with better gear.

Im having this problem with my tank. Im 4 points from running heroics now and have my belt, gloves and bracers to replace. All of these items to replace are about 3k in the AH. I have ran normals quite a bit now and not much has dropped for me. Debating to just buy them so I can do heroics or just keep farming normals. Have quite a bit of money but I see it as a waste.

If you are not in a hardcore raiding guild that has already started raid last week, there's really no rush to raise up your profession too much. I would sell the mats and rip the profit then raise the professions at a fraction of the cost in few weeks time when mats price settle down.
And some profession allows you to reap the benefits without investing too much into it. For example, JC profession, you just need get to 475 quickly so you can start the Daily quest to stock your token. Do it for every alt JCs you have, and you will reap quick gold in no time from selling the Chimera Eyes (equivalent of Dragon Eyes in WOTLK). For Enchanting, you only need to get to 475 for the ring enchant.

yeah i am not a gatherer, just an alchemist/engineer (which i don't wanna give up even if u gotta wait to buy cheaper mats). if i were a gatherer i think i would feel obliged to sell anyways and cash in on the sick prices.
as for buying greens: i hear ya an upgrade is an upgrade, and i guess 100g isn't really THAT much considering a full repair and some food costs nearly that much, and i do that pretty often. i just see those items sitting there forever at that price so i feel like everyone else is smart not to buy it or something

I've made 80k since Tuesday, so hopefully not anytime soon 
Personally, I think it will go longer than WotLK did to settle down as I think more people have more alts and such that they will want to level, plus more years worth of money reserves to burn.
