Bad tips, all my gold is from gems..

I know of 2 green gems that you can make into rings/trinkets for a small price, and have a chance to make blue rings/trinkets that sell for 100-300.

The green rings/trinkets you don't want, and will not sell get dissenchanted into mats that sell for Loads.

Putting aside different server economies...

It could also depend on what level of gems you're selling. I haven't tried this tip yet but I'd imagine I could buy a few BC or WotLK uncommon quality gems for cheap, cut them and vendor them if they proved not to sell on the AH for a profit.

Tips:

You can often find Cata green-quality gem below 9g on AH (less the Carnelian and the Nightstone). Use an Auction Add-on that can help you mass buy them with lesser mouse click. Cut them and vendor for 9g each for profit.

Good Idea.. I was kinda disappointed that the prices for these didn't stay high like the WOTLK did for so long.
