This is not a plug for another website... but I have been using it quite a bit recently to better gear my priest and check my DPS, however, I am having quite a few issues with 'elements' of my DPS per their calculator...


I'm plugging in my stats and talents - comparing my DPS on a dummy to that in their calc it is coming up at about 8k versus 9.2k calculated... a large part of this is SWDeath, which I am not casting on the target dummy and which accounts for a large portion of DPS on a boss fight.


But my biggest issue is that they seem to think that Devouring Plague should be up near the top of my DPS... but it is nowhere near the top and is about 50% the level they expect it to be.


Instead, my MindFlay appears to be near the top of my charts (above their calculations)... it wasn't a lucky streak of crits or anything, I have tried this over 3-4 x 4min tests. It may well be that they haven't updated thir calc's in a while.


Anyway... bottom line, does anyone have a similar website that should be able to calculate DPS for Shadow Priests - My gear is mainly non-heroics but my DPS is well below most other people I run with, and whilst I am not a DPS whore I don't like being at the bottom of the charts consistently.


Also, can anyone tell me what DPS Devouring Plague puts out... mine is 1k DPS un adjusted, i.e. applying no bonuses from Dark Archangel, Shadow Orbs or Evangalism.

Just looked at a WoL report for a BWD run from one of my guilds: 16.4% of the shadow priests damage for the entire run was from DP/ImpDP.

You can check the combat log of that guy, he's our shadow priest. He's also healing sometimes, so if you see "top damage spell: smite", don't wonder

His numbers are a lot higher than mine but there is definately a correlation between where his spells rank. I am at work now and my stats are back at home, so I will have to wait to find out exactly how they compare.


Out of interest... what DPS does he do in fights? i couldn't see that on the website link you gave.

He's decked with raid gear with a few heroic pieces, so no worries, it's normal

I'm a tank so I'm not really focused on what DPS people do, but I know he's doing fine. He's not the king of the hill but he's not the worse of the pack either. And shadow priests have other advantages than just raw DPS, too.

Without wanting to be tooo cheeky - next time you speak to him can you ask him what sort of DPS he does on a regular boss fight in a 5man and AOE fight in a 5man. I would be interested to see how much the DPS scales from where I am now...


Like I said, it is reassuring to see that my abilities are in a similar order to his. I do feel at the moment that my DPS is really slacking and I know most of it is 100% gear related... but it annoys me still to see 2-3k DPS gaps between myself and the top guy in a 5man.


Not worrying about DPS is definately one of the things I enjoyed about tanking... for me it was about running the group, making sure I had everything under control and DPS was only really a consideration in terms of keeping threat. But I just seem to be having a bit more fun with the SPriest at the moment... I like all the little tricks they have even though my War was much more powerful whilst leveling up.
