We recently updated the World of Warcraft Remote page with new screenshots and information about the upcoming mobile guild chat feature, currently in development for iPhone?, iPod touch?, and Android?. This new feature will allow World of Warcraft Remote subscribers to participate in guild chat, send whispers to their guildmates, and more through their phone or mobile device. We'll have more information on the availability of this fanciful feat of gnomish engineering soon, so keep your goggles glued to the official World of Warcraft website.

Anarchy Online had such a feature - you could access in game chat with your account login and any java enabled web browser. It was quite handy.

One wonders how quickly this is being rushed to market so they can reallocate limited resource budgets back into game development to fix the issues in Cataclysm.

I found this useful back in AC days if I wanted to hop on to chat without playing.

Makes me wonder if it's really all justt testing for Titan as opposed to something good for WOW. I would like itb ut i'm not paying the fee they're charging to use it.

but a lot of stuff makes me wonder if it was to make WOW better or if it's a way to test new tech for them... phasing, the new water graphics (which look amazing and at the same ridicliously out of place compared to everything else), the remote auctionhouse, the remote guild chat, etc. etc.

I miss that free convenience, any IRC client worked as well. Used to idle at work like crazy.

They talked about this coming "soon" at the end of 2010... so probably not so rushed. Tried asking about it in the beginning of March and didn't get much response. Had just assumed they dropped plans for it.
