So, blizzard's sad attempt at trying to get people to think they are still the same old "underdog startup company of game lovers who just want to put out a good product"?

When everyone knows that in reality they are now a huge corporation of suits with business declining due to hubris, arrogance, and mismanagement....

Ok.

I agree with Spooky. Blizzard has no ground floor, anymore.

Back then, Blizzard had a passion for making good video games.
Now, Blizzard has a passion for money.

Blizzard has been shifting into the social networking angle, and forcing people to partake in it is good for business. Customers are forced to see the advertising, and insured to have some exposure to ancillary services and fluff like the real money auction house Blizzard gets a cut from. It also gets the consumer invested in their social network in some way, making it more likely for those players to purchase expansions and future Battle.net games.

Personally my love affair with Blizzard has pretty much ended with this announcement. I'll give my money to developers like Runic (Torchlight) that will give me more for less, without treating me like a wallet with arms and legs. I mean just look at what they're giving you with Torchlight 2 - offline, on-line centralized servers, LAN capabilities, Steamworks integration, all for $20. And it will likely drop long before Diablo 3.

SC2 didn't exactly do gang busters outside of South Korea. World of Warcraft is on the decline. Now this, long before Diablo 3 even ships. I don't know if it's Activision or just the natural order of things when a developer gets this big and successful, but personally, I'm no longer a customer of theirs. I'll not support these types of business practices with my money - and honestly it's not even a huge stickler for me, I just have better alternatives on the horizon.

It is fun to see these photos.

Blizzard might be a different organization today but it is the people you see on these photos that gave me so many hours of fun notably with Warcraft II, SC and Diablo I & II. I raise my hat

I think that all War II sounds were made by one guy (who is on several photos). Unless I am wrong he also did all the voices which I enjoyed a lot.

Warcraft II was really a good RTS, nothing revolutionary but well done and fun, especialy that you could easily play online (through Kali for example).

Like that kid back in elementary school with the giant head who used to stare at lunchroom wall and clap his hands and laugh?

Dude, really?
