I'm sending in a feedback form detailing what I think needs to be fixed or updated on Mordred in order to make it a more attractive playing option to the general DAoC population. I'm going to address issues that effect the playability of the server, such as porting in combat.

With the recent heightened interest in Mordred, I think it's time that we need to do as much as we can to make Mordred as healthy as we can. The more feedback they get, the more likely they are to take our points into consideration, so I suggest that you all send in a form as well.

A level 50 BG exclusive to mordred would bring more population imo. Portal keeps that are townzone safe but like the Nurizane's Crossroads port in laby in the sense that if you leave your bot too long itll get nuked. Fix NF....perhaps make it so there is a reason to HOLD a claimed CK so that people arent just growing them merely to be farmed.

It would be most effective to compile a list of ideas as a group that several dozen players can verify they agree upon, send it to me, and I'll send it to Beib so she can try to pass it on to EA. Being as none of us are officially working for Mythic, there are no guarantees. In fact, it may not end up mattering at all, but there's a chance they might listen to the masses as one rather than just individual "this is what I want the server to be" emails.

What you CAN do to try to make a difference:

-PM me with original and justifiable ideas. Not looking for 5 paragraph essays; just bullet list of feasible changes or additions. I'll create polls based on the ideas receive feedback. Get anyone you know to vote on the polls.

-Do not post anything negative or demeaning about EA, Mythic, or anything DAoC related. Doing so will result in your opinion being ignored indefinitely.

-Be active on the server, even if you're just mostly idle to +1 the population. The more people that play, the more likely they will care about what we want.

I can tell all of you right now that wanting new zones or content specific to Mordred, free /50, or free gear will never happen. You have to think outside the box, like "weekends give 400% XP in SI areas to encourage players to adventure in these areas as well as potentially increase population." or "20% RP increase for PvPing in ToA areas on Thursdays - ToA Thursdays!"

OUTSIDE THE BOX.

The only thing I disagree with is the keep thing. New content won't happen. Also many people made out VERY nicely and will never need to farm anymore scales or glass on Mordred. Why remove that from others 2ish years later.

IMO it should be easy to patch players that log out inside a keep to be ported to a main city once they log back in. Or no?

My suggestion is intended for Ywain, but I think it would fit Mordred perfectly. The idea is to create an environment where players encounter each other in open terrain in a completely natural way.

Imagine these two quest objectives:

- Gather five pieces of wood in Forest Sauvage
- Gather five pieces of stone in Snowdonia

You are instantly rewarded on the fifth pick up (no quest NPC is involved at all), and then you must complete the other quest before you can do the first quest again. This way players will roam in and between the two quest areas (until they encounter an enemy which is what the quest is *really* about). Here is an illustration to give a better idea of how it would work:

Albion frontier overview

The size/location of the quest "areas" can be adjusted. The illustration is just an example. The key thing is to create general areas where players are very likely to find action, and where encounters are as natural/spontaneus as they can possibly be (ie. based on roaming instead of camping).

DAoC (and mordred in particular) could really use a little help from developers to create a "default" place to go when you are looking for some small scale action. I believe that a simple quest similar to this one could have a huge impact on PvP/RvR and greatly improve small scale action.

Establishing a 'default' PvP zone can be as easy as having weekly 'hot spots' that give bonus RPs and BPs in a specific area.

On Gaheris players that log in to keeps that are occupied by the keep lord (mob) automatically get ported to the closest relic town. Also, when the keep lord spawns, players online are automatically ported. I'm not sure on keep mechanics here, but it couldn't be too hard to alter the code to fit this servers needs.

My problem when playing on Mordred was finding people to fight who weren't camping portals in Goth, Cots, etc. Of course, you could set up your own fights, but walking into an unexpected fight is more exhilarating than roaming for an expected fight.

What if, instead of asking Mythic to create new content specifically for Mordred, we ask them to do something easy to alleviate this issue.

My suggestion:

Remove /anon if you're in a PVP zone.

This would let people poll the different zones to find fights easier. Of course, it would also have the reverse effect, allowing players to avoid fights with specific people, or helping gankers kill PVErs (but, this is Mordred, and I wouldn't shed a tear for a necro getting killed farming glass somewhere).

I always thought having /anon on Mordred was a bit outside of the ruleset, where players always had to be looking over their shoulders for possible enemies. /Anon gave players an (unintended?) loophole to hide from others.

Cheers,

As /who doesn't reveal anyone's location on Mordred, that wouldn't affect much outside of AM raids on keeps. I think /anon is dumb in general but making it so the guy with 10 chars camped in a house can't be anon wouldn't make it any harder for him. If you want to get rid of campers, the areas of PvP need to be moved.

Most everyone is afraid to fight somewhere that doesn't have a porter nearby so Oceanus or some sort of ToA circuit would still work for people who love to wilson and would pretty much remove campers.

It would be easy to say "Oceanus is for smallmans, Stygia is for solos, and NF is for zergs at keeps." But people would rather complain about campers than do something about it and any players who ever respected solo areas quit the game years ago.
